A friend once told me that “you can’t write about yourself” and I have to agree. It’s a hard task. Even telling you my own name brings a touch of confusion. My given name is Lenore and I try to use that professionally, including on this site, but the truth is that just about everyone calls me Lennie. I go through life with two personas; I even have business cards made up in each name. And I recently learned that my first name means "light" while my middle name means "dark". Really. Fitting that I’m a Gemini.

I have always had a creative passion. I was just a young girl when the yearn to write, to get my feelings down on paper, enveloped me. At the same time, the desire to create beautiful things with my hands had developed too. I loved to draw, to make things. Art supplies were better than toys and I wanted them all. Not just crayons and markers were desired, either; I received my first camera when I was just eight years old.

Only recently did the realization strike me that paper has played a huge role in my creative life. Whether I’m scribbling down my thoughts on it, feeding it through an inkjet to print out my photos, or tearing it up to make a collage, paper is front and centre in just about all my artistic pursuits and always has been.

I also believe my passion for food is a creative one. Creativity in the kitchen is just as important to me as my journalistic and artistic endeavours.

I also have a passion for my family. They keep me grounded; they keep me feeling safe and secure and loved.

So there you have it. A tiny insight into me. A writer. An artist. Oh ... and a damn fine cook too.
